Morton Carlisle – Two projects in one

This solar installation was over 2 semi detached houses, with neighbours fitting their panels at the same time they were able to maximise their usable roof space for solar panels with a seamless design. They were also able to split the costs of scaffold and roofing, benefiting from economies of scale.

The roof was fitted with in roof panels, which is offset by the reduction in the cost of tiles.

In this case we fitted GSE in roof modules with Canadian Solar panels surrounded by a porcelain tile.

Not having to re-roof the area beneath the panels meant the customers were able to upgrade their tiles for a superior finish.

The system was fitted with a Solar Edge invertor, optimiser and 10KWh battery.

The invertor optimises the homes energy flow, maximising the amount of solar power produced, stored and consumed – day and night.

Shading wasn’t an issue with this particular install, however both customers opted for a SolarEdge power optimiser. This maximises the amount of energy produced by each solar module and mitigates all types of module mismatch-loss, from manufacturing tolerance, partial shading and ageing.

Self consumption is obviously the ultimate goal with solar PV. This can be done by battery storage, smart control of your hot water tank (the cheapest way to store energy), EV charging or one of the Solar Edge “smart things”.

Here a SolarEdge 10KWh battery was installed, this stores excess solar energy for powering your home when rates are high or a at night.

As both customers chose to fit a SolarEdge battery and invertor system they were able to use the SolarEdge monitoring app.

This app allows you to view your system’s performance and energy consumption with real-time power flow illustrations, comparative graphs, and easy-to-read charts.

You can choose the best battery mode for your needs. Control your smart home devices on the go, prioritize critical loads, and direct power to essential appliances.

It also allows you to automatically charge your battery when electricity rates are low and shift consumption to hours when solar energy is plentiful.
